- Signed-in users can request deletion in the app from Settings > Account > Delete Account.
- NO'TA uses a 30-day recovery window before permanent purge.
- If you cannot access your account, email support@no-ta.app from the email address connected to your NO'TA account.
How to Request Account Deletion
To request deletion inside the NO'TA app:
- Open NO'TA and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Go to Settings > Account.
- Select Delete Account.
- Confirm the request by typing DELETE when prompted.
After confirmation, your account is marked for deletion and is hidden or disabled according to NO'TA's deletion controls.
If You Cannot Access the App
If you cannot sign in or cannot access the in-app deletion flow, email support@no-ta.app with the subject "Account deletion request". Include:
- your NO'TA username, if known;
- the email address connected to the account;
- your country or region; and
- a clear request to delete the account and associated data.
We may ask for reasonable verification before actioning a request so that another person cannot delete your account without authorization.
Data Deleted or De-identified
After the recovery window ends, NO'TA permanently purges the account where technically and legally possible. This includes account-linked data such as:
- account and authentication records;
- profile data, username links, avatar links, and preferences;
- private drafts, bookmarks, follows, outgoing blocks, votes, notifications, and device tokens;
- private journals, reflections, journeys, journey entries, shared links, and other account-only records; and
- other account-linked records that are configured to be removed when the user record is purged.
Contributions that form part of a shared discussion or public directory remain available so threads and community context do not break. This includes otherwise-visible posts, comments, fill-in-the-blank answers, places and place reviews, anonymous Path Notes, and conversation/message history. After permanent deletion, these items display "User not available" immediately instead of the person's username or name. The profile and profile link are unavailable during the recovery window; successful recovery restores the current username and avatar snapshots. At permanent purge, retained items are reassigned to a non-discoverable account tombstone, and the original profile, avatar, demographics, profile link, and account access are not retained with them. The text or media of a retained contribution may still identify the person if they included identifying information in the contribution itself.
Retention Period and Data We May Keep
NO'TA uses a 30-day recovery window. During this period, the account is scheduled for deletion and may be recoverable; the profile is hidden and retained shared contributions display "User not available." After the 30-day window, NO'TA's scheduled purge removes the original account and private account-linked data from active systems and detaches retained shared contributions from the deleted profile as described above.
We may keep limited archival information where necessary for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, abuse prevention, dispute handling, or audit purposes. This may include limited deletion archive records, moderation or safety audit records, records that are legally required to be retained, and information already present in backups, logs, caches, screenshots, search indexes, or third-party systems until those systems expire or are overwritten.
Requesting Deletion Without Deleting Your Account
You may also ask NO'TA to delete or correct some personal data without deleting your whole account. Email support@no-ta.app with the details of the data you want deleted or corrected. Some data may be kept where required for safety, legal, security, or audit reasons.
