1. Scope and equal treatment
These Community Guidelines apply to every NO'TA user and to posts, replies, quotations, profiles, messages, reviews, offers, media, public reflections, reports and other participation. They form part of the Terms and Conditions. Topic rules can add relevant requirements but cannot permit conduct prohibited here. Accounts require a minimum age of 18 worldwide, or a higher age where required by law.
Criticism, disagreement, satire and unpopular views are welcome within these rules. Apply the same standards in Arabic, English, dialect or mixed-language conversation. Do not harass, threaten, intimidate, repeatedly humiliate or organise a pile-on against someone. Do not attack or exclude people through dehumanising language or hatred based on characteristics such as ethnicity, nationality, race, religion or lack of religion, sect, caste, disability, age, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
Criticising an idea, institution, belief, public policy or conduct is different from attacking a person’s dignity or threatening a group. Public figures may be criticised; they are still protected against threats, hate and disclosure of private information.
2. Adab: dignity, restraint and responsibility
NO'TA is built Arabic-first, drawing on the best of Arab traditions of thoughtful public discussion while welcoming people of different backgrounds. Adab here means protecting dignity, using tact, accepting responsibility and exercising restraint. It is not a religious test, a demand for deference to status or age, or a requirement to agree with the majority.
- Challenge the claim with reasons and context; do not insult the person, their family, lineage, appearance, accent or background.
- Avoid vulgar personal attacks, obscene insults, sexualised ridicule and humiliating nicknames. Discuss sensitive subjects directly and respectfully without gratuitous graphic detail.
- Do not turn advice, correction or cultural or religious reminders into shaming, gossip, intimidation or attacks on someone’s character.
- Leave room for clarification, correction, apology and disengagement. Nobody owes you a reply, disclosure of their identity or agreement.
- Do not use politeness rules to suppress good-faith criticism, reports of abuse or discussion of injustice. Context, meaning and actual conduct matter more than a word considered in isolation.
3. Violence, exploitation and immediate danger
Do not threaten, incite, celebrate or facilitate real-world violence against people. Do not recruit for, fundraise for or materially support terrorism or violent criminal activity, trafficking, forced labour or exploitation. Credible threats and instructions that enable serious harm may result in immediate restrictions.
Do not encourage suicide or self-harm, provide actionable methods, or promote dangerous challenges. Supportive discussion of recovery, personal experience and prevention is allowed when it does not encourage harm or contain unnecessary graphic detail. Do not falsely present yourself as an emergency responder or qualified professional.
NO'TA is not an emergency service. If someone faces immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Report the content using the in-app tools or abuse@no-ta.app; a platform report does not summon emergency help.
4. Child safety and sexual content
Child sexual abuse or exploitation is prohibited, including grooming, sexual solicitation, sexualised depictions of anyone under 18, and links or instructions to obtain abuse material. This includes synthetic, AI-generated and manipulated material. Do not attempt to move a young person to another service for exploitation or pressure them to disclose intimate information.
Do not post pornography, sexually explicit activity, sexual-service solicitation, or imagery intended primarily for sexual gratification. Do not publish, threaten to publish, solicit or trade non-consensual intimate images, including fabricated images or sexual deepfakes. Sexual harassment, coercion and sextortion are prohibited. Consent to create an image is not consent to distribute it.
Non-graphic health education, breastfeeding, discussion of abuse and other legitimate informational contexts may be considered in context; they do not permit sexualising minors or circulating abuse material. Report suspected exploitation using a content link or identifier. Do not download, forward or attach suspected child sexual abuse material to an email or public report. We may preserve relevant evidence and make reports required by law.
For child-safety concerns, contact safety@no-ta.app with a content link or identifier and only the necessary information. Do not attach or redistribute suspected child sexual abuse material. This address is not an emergency service.
5. Privacy and personal information
Do not expose, solicit or threaten to expose another person’s private address, contact details, precise live location, identity documents, credentials, financial information or intimate information. Do not identify an anonymous or pseudonymous user against their wishes to target them. Previously public information can still be used for doxxing or harassment.
Do not share private correspondence or recordings in breach of privacy or other rights. When reporting wrongdoing, minimise identifying details and use confidential reporting channels where appropriate; a claim of public interest does not automatically justify exposing unrelated personal information.
Respect profile and real-name choices. Do not pressure people to share private accounts or bypass contact-information filters, including through images, coded spelling or repeated hints. Submit only necessary personal details in safety and support reports. See the Privacy Policy for how reports and related evidence are handled.
6. Authenticity, deception and manipulation
Do not impersonate a person, business or NO'TA representative, fake verification or credentials, run scams or phishing, solicit money deceptively, or distribute malware and disguised unsafe links. Clearly identify parody or fan accounts where confusion is likely; a disclaimer does not excuse fraud or targeted harm.
Do not deliberately misrepresent materially edited or AI-generated media as a genuine record of events. Disclose fabrication or alteration where needed to prevent material deception. Clearly distinguish opinion, uncertainty and verified fact. Do not spread deceptive health, financial, emergency or civic-participation claims likely to cause serious harm, such as a fabricated emergency warning or false voting instructions. Good-faith mistakes, debate and satire are assessed in context and can be corrected.
Do not spam, coordinate inauthentic activity, buy or fabricate engagement, manipulate votes or Resonance, or organise false reports to silence people. Do not evade bans or eligibility, invite, rate or device restrictions. An unsuccessful report made in good faith is not a false report; knowingly fabricated evidence or malicious reporting is abuse.
7. Lawful use and intellectual property
Do not facilitate serious unlawful conduct or sell or promote illegal goods or services. Regulated goods and services may be offered only through an expressly permitted feature and in compliance with applicable requirements. Do not offer illegal weapons, controlled substances, stolen data or fraudulent documents.
Respect copyright, trademarks and rights in names, likenesses and recordings. Attribution alone does not establish permission; lawful exceptions such as quotation or fair use/dealing depend on the circumstances. Do not remove attribution or present another person’s work as your own. Send rights complaints with the content location and supporting details to legal@no-ta.app.
Do not attack the platform, defeat access controls, harvest personal data or conduct intrusive security testing without permission. Report vulnerabilities privately to security@no-ta.app.
8. Conversations and interaction boundaries
Conversations are attached to public content and are not confidential, end-to-end encrypted private DMs. Do not use a “message about this” flow, quotation, reply, review or another account to threaten, shame or continue unwanted contact. Do not pressure people for phone numbers, private accounts, documents, money or confidential disclosures.
Respect refusal and disengagement, blocks, profile limits and other interaction boundaries. Muting or archiving is a user control, not necessarily a technical block on all contact. Do not claim that silence is consent. Do not use these conversations for emergencies, professional treatment or formal legal service.
9. Media, reviews, recommendations and offers
Share links and media honestly. Do not conceal a destination or trick people into unsafe downloads, payments or credential entry. Avoid graphic violence, cruelty or disturbing imagery used to shock or glorify harm; legitimate reporting may require restricted display or removal to protect viewers.
Reviews must reflect genuine experience. Disclose paid relationships, sponsorship, gifts, affiliate interests and other material conflicts. Do not post fake ratings, misleading prices or availability, or claim an endorsement or qualification you do not have. Correct inaccurate place or business information when you become aware of it.
Recipes, journeys and health, legal or financial discussions must not promise guaranteed outcomes or misrepresent professional expertise. Give relevant context and avoid unsafe instructions. A disclaimer does not excuse harmful deception or unlawful advice.
10. Reporting and proportionate enforcement
Use in-app reporting for the relevant post, reply, message or profile. Include the content reference, the rule or concern and the necessary context. If the flow is unavailable, or you cannot access an account, email abuse@no-ta.app or support@no-ta.app. You do not have to engage publicly with the person you report. Do not retaliate against a reporter, witness or reviewer.
Keyword rules, AI-assisted checks, rate limits, security signals and human review help identify concerns. Automated checks can misunderstand dialect, quotations, satire or context. We assess available evidence, seriousness, repetition and the risk of harm, and seek the lightest action that safely addresses the issue. A majority dislike or a report count alone does not establish a violation.
Actions can include a request to revise, warning, content removal, reduced reach, restrictions on features or roles, temporary suspension or permanent banning. Serious or repeated harm may justify immediate action without a warning. Some anti-abuse measures may be applied without advance disclosure to prevent evasion. We provide reasons and notice where required and lawful, while protecting people, investigations and necessary security details.
Where available, Community consideration gives eligible volunteers limited, blind, advisory input on suitable reported text. It is not a public vote or a moderation verdict; authorised moderators retain responsibility. We do not promise that every case enters that process or that every report receives the outcome requested. Good-faith reporting and review must not be used to inflate Resonance.
11. Appeals and complaints
If you think a decision is wrong, use the appeal route shown with it or contact support@no-ta.app. Identify the decision or case, the relevant content and the reasons or context that should be reconsidered. You may appeal in Arabic or English. Where an in-app time limit applies, follow the displayed instructions; statutory rights and external complaint periods remain unaffected.
We consider good-faith challenges and correct mistakes where appropriate. You may provide relevant new information, but do not fabricate evidence or repeatedly submit abusive duplicate reports. We may ask for clarification; review does not guarantee restoration. Where legally required, human review or another complaint route will be provided. An unavailable in-app feature does not remove the email route or your legal rights.
For privacy requests, contact privacy@no-ta.app. For rights complaints or legal notices, contact legal@no-ta.app. Available regulator, court or other statutory remedies are not waived by these guidelines.
12. Updates and interpretation
These rules are interpreted in context and consistently with the Terms, the Social Contract and applicable law. We may update them as risks, the product or the law change, publish the revision date and give appropriate notice of material changes. An urgent safety or legal response may take effect sooner. Changes do not remove accrued rights.
The English and Arabic texts are intended to have the same meaning. Report an inconsistency so we can correct it; a translation ambiguity should be considered in a good-faith review. The Terms explain how unresolved language conflicts are handled, subject to mandatory local law.
